The Shine Campaign
Summary
Over 800 million people globally lack access to electricity. Shine, a campaign to accelerate energy access commitments by religious and philanthropic investors and donors, is launching the world’s first investment facility explicitly committed to supporting women-led and community-based energy access enterprises. Shine’s research has uncovered a growing community of women-led enterprises aimed at ensuring universal energy access, going where need and opportunity for deep transformation are greatest, but lack the visibility and financial backing needed for scaling.
Following a 1.25 million Euro demonstration phase, the fund will raise 10-20 million Euros of which at least 30% will be devoted to women-led initiatives.
The Shine Campaign will also be launching the Shine Re-Granting Facility to assist communities where companies operate to better engage, understand and prioritize their clients in order to support and build demand.
